I spoke with Jasen Hinshaw, one of the owners of Knockerball Tri Cities about his business. Jasen, along with his wife Nellie, and business partners Rudy and Raquel love bringing fun and excitement to their community and have seen a lot of success putting on events for churches, youth groups, fairs, and corporate businesses. Knockerball Tri Cities is a mobile business, meaning they don’t have a physical location but instead they go to their customers. Being mobile allows them to serve these big events while keeping costs down. They like to do bigger events because they bring in much more revenue, but they certainly don’t shy away from smaller events like birthday parties.
To reach their target audience and drum up some business they focus on social media and word of mouth referrals. They often directly reach out to big events like fairs, festivals, churches, and schools.
When asked to give advice to someone starting their own bubble soccer business, Jasen stressed the importance of reinvesting the profits into more options for the business to become a one-stop shop for inflatable games. “This is the difference between a $300 event and a $3,000 event.” Jasen also ensures that his business is run in a professional manner. It’s all fun and games but if you want your business to go to the next level, you can’t treat it like a hobby. It doesn’t need to be your full time job, but you will need to hustle on the side if you want to make it your full time job.
By staying focused, Jasen was able to help Knockerball Tri Cities average $33k/mo last year and bring in $100k in their biggest month. Impressive numbers for a metropolitan area of 400,000 people.
